Daniel has been heavily involved in theatre and film for over a decade now - having spent significant time as an actor, writer and as a director. Fascinated with extremes, Daniel's work is both facetted and accomplished, focusing on providing entertainment with a slightly twisted bent.
His first forway into directing In The Valley of the Shadow (a comedy revolving around two honeymooners kept prisoner by a paranoid hillbilly) won Best Play at the 1999 South-West One Act Festival in Western Australia. From here he directed Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters and Sourcery (the latter of which he adapted himself), and then jettisoned into film with The Morning After. This first film was extremely well recieved on the international film festival circuit, and was the winner of several awards.
His spare time prior and during this period was eagerly spent in acting in film and theatre. From Shakespeare and Wilde, to works based on cult popularity such as Red Dwarf and Star Wars (respectively playing Arnold Rimmer in a stage version of Marooned in Perth, and playing an Imperial Officer in the fanfilm The Broken Allegiance). Daniel's appetite for varied and drastically different roles has led him to be involved in a cornucopia of differing production styles and moods.
Now - Daniel focuses on his writing and directing, favouring the sharp and outlandish - with an eye to producing quality product of a professional standard.
In 2003, Daniel founded Snowgum Films in order to give him an avenue in which to unleash his fresh, creative vivaciousness upon the world. |
